Syntonics Ships 100th HARC Aerostat Radio Relay Systemsdotted
COLUMBIA, MD. April 14, 2016...Syntonics LLC, a leading provider of advanced technology RF-over-Fiber products, announces it has delivered its 100th FORAX™-HARC (Fiber Optic Remote Antenna eXtension – High Antennas for Radio Communications) aerostat radio relay system. The U.S. Army’s Product Director-Aerostats, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, fields HARC systems as part of an aerostat Program of Record.

HARC systems provide dramatically improved radio network range extension for tactical communicators. HARC systems fielded by the Army extend Very High Frequency and Ultra High Frequency radio communications out to 50 miles and further, including over elevated terrain and down into valleys and urban canyons.

HARC is being delivered under a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase III contract. Key technologies were developed under an earlier effort funded by the U.S. Navy’s Space and Naval Warfare System Command (SPAWAR) to develop prototype HARC systems for the Wideband Network Waveform (WNW). Those prototype HARC-WNW systems participated successfully in the Army’s Network Integration Evaluation (NIE) 12.1 and were recommended for fielding.

HARC systems are now available for all tactical communications waveforms used by the U.S. Army including the Soldier Radio Waveform (SRW), the Advanced Networking Wideband Waveform (ANW2), WNW, the Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radio System (SINCGARS), and the Enhanced Position Location Reporting System (EPLRS) waveforms.

Syntonics provides advanced RF-over-Fiber systems and innovative RF technologies for military, civil, and industrial markets. FORAX™ RF-over-Fiber radio communications systems are deployed around the world in 24x7 mission critical operations. FORAX-HARC (High Antennas for Radio Communications) RF-over-Fiber radio relay systems are deployed today in the Central Command’s Area of Responsibility.
