COLUMBIA, MD. June 23, 2006 . . . Syntonics LLC, based in Columbia, Md., announced today it recently completed deliveries of a number of FORAX-SC2 systems to the U.S. Army for a UHF tactical satellite communications (TACSAT) application. An Air Force Communications squadron also took delivery of one of these systems.
The FORAX® RF-over-fiber system connects tactical radios to remote antennas at distance up to 10 km. Instead of using heavy, short, lossy coaxial cables—one per radio—the operator can use a single long, lightweight, and secure fiber optic cable for all the radios. Initially developed for the U.S. military, FORAX® applications include fixed-site and mobile command centers, air traffic control, and test and training ranges. In the case of this Army project, several engineering details of the FORAX-SC2 system were modified to accommodate operational preferences of the end user.
Syntonics designs, develops, and manufactures specialty military RF communications equipment and accessories, notably RF-over-fiber products and innovative antennas. For more information on Syntonics and its products, please see the company's website at www.SyntonicsCorp.com. |
